HealthyWage works with many different step trackers! We sync your steps using Apple Health on iPhone and Google Health Connect or Samsung Health on Android. If you track with a watch (like Fitbit or Garmin), fitness tracker, or another app, connect it to Apple Health or Health Connect first, and your steps will sync to HealthyWage from there.
You CAN use your favorite wearable device - you'll set it up through Apple Health or Google Health Connect!
Use the HealthyWage App to connect and sync your step tracker. You will be prompted automatically during your registration process on the HealthyWage App.
If you need to do this manually, you can set up your step tracker anytime by following these steps:
1. Tap the Menu button (three lines at the upper left of the app screen)
2. Locate Profile & Settings
3. Tap Devices
4. Select your tracking device and follow the prompts to connect and sync your steps
Please note: You are only able to view your step challenge information on the website. Participation in a step challenge requires the HealthyWage Mobile App.
Log into the mobile app and get to stepping!
Open your device's (step-tracker) app, find its connected apps or connections settings, select Apple Health/Health Connect (as applicable), make sure Steps is turned on, and allow permission. If you need assistance establishing this connection, please refer to your tracking app's support resources or contact the app's support team for further guidance.
Health Connect does not appear in your regular app list, but you can locate it through your phone's Settings.
1. Open your phone's Settings.
2. Tap Apps.
3. Search for "Health Connect."
4. Select Health Connect to open it.
If you still cannot find it, search the Google Play Store for Health Connect and download it if necessary. Depending on your Android version, it may already be built into your phone or need to be installed separately.
The exact steps may vary depending on your phone model and Android version. If you still cannot locate Health Connect, please contact your phone's manufacturer (such as Samsung, Google, or Motorola) for assistance.
If you carry your iPhone while wearing a watch or fitness tracker, both count steps. Apple Health doesn't add them together. It picks one source, so you could see fewer steps than your device shows.
To fix this:
1. Open the Health app on your iPhone.
2. Tap Browse, then Activity, then Steps.
3. Scroll down and tap Data Sources & Access.
4. Tap Edit in the top right corner. You must tap Edit first, or the list won't move.
5. Press and hold the three lines next to your device's app and drag it to the top of the list, above your iPhone.
6. Tap Done.
If you carry your phone while wearing a watch or fitness tracker, both may count steps. Health Connect doesn't add them together. It uses the source at the top of your priority list, so you could see fewer steps than your device shows. There are two ways to address this. You can do either one, or both.
Option 1: Turn off step sharing from your phone
1. Open Health Connect (search "Health Connect" in your phone's Settings under Apps).
2. Scroll down to Data and access.
3. Select Steps, then tap Access.
4. Tap your phone (for example, Google Pixel 9a or Galaxy S24).
5. Turn off Steps.
Don't see your phone listed? Then it isn't counting steps in Health Connect, so you should be all set.
Option 2: Make your device the top priority
1. Open Health Connect and tap Manage data, then Data sources and priority.
2. Select Activity.
3. Make sure your device's app is listed as a step source and ranked above your phone and any other step-tracking apps.
If your steps aren't showing correctly in HealthyWage, first check that your steps are accurate in your tracking app (versus your wearable device) and that the app is sharing them with Apple Health or Health Connect. If your steps are missing or lower than expected, check your device permissions and step source settings using the instructions above.
- Open your device's app and let it finish syncing before you check HealthyWage.
- On iPhone, keep your phone unlocked for a minute or two while it syncs. Apple Health can't save new data while your phone is locked.
- On Android, make sure battery saver or battery optimization isn't blocking your device's app from running in the background.
Syncing times may vary, depending on your device, your phone, and the health app your steps pass through, so we can't give a set timeline. Open your device's app and let it finish syncing before you check HealthyWage. Please note this may take up to several hours for HealthyWage to receive your steps and for your stats to update. Keep stepping in the meantime!
We recommend logging in regularly, daily if possible, to make sure your steps are up-to-date. Your steps must be logged on your device no later than 11:59 pm on the final day of the challenge and synced to HealthyWage within 72 hours.
Your steps must be synced to HealthyWage no later than 72 hours after the Challenge ends. Steps synced after this deadline will not be counted toward your goal.
If you experience issues syncing your steps or identify incorrect data, you must contact HealthyWage within 72 hours at info@healthywage.com with:
1. A clear description of the issue,
2. Your phone model, operating system, and step-tracking app,
3. Detailed daily screenshot(s) from your step-tracking app, and
4. What troubleshooting you have attempted and what happened.
Reports beyond the 72 hour deadline cannot be accepted.
No. Manually entered steps and workouts are not accepted.
Use your phone to track steps in the meantime. When you reconnect, the system uses the higher step count for the days your device was disconnected.
Please contact HealthyWage Participant Support via email at info@healthywage.com. Please include your phone model, operating system, the step-tracking app you use, and what you've already tried to resolve the issue.
